Notice of Application For Strip Mine Permit Notice is hereby given that WALKER BROTHERS MINING, INC. / PO BOX 583, Midlothian, Maryland 21543 has submitted an application to the Maryland Bureau of Mines for a surface coal mine operations permit. The operation is to be located near Midlothian, Maryland. The proposed operation occupies a 12 acre tract on the north side of Staub Run, Election District 19, Allegany County; 660,500N / 246,000E. Access to the site is from Carlos Road, 0.5 mile south of the intersection with Midlothian Road. Surface and mineral of the area to be mined is owned by Allegany Coal & Land Company, PO Box 410, Frostburg, Maryland 21532. The permit area is located within the US Geologic Survey Frostburg / Lonaconing, MD 7.5 minute quadrangles, the boundaries being as shown on the attached sketch. The application includes plans to construct no (0) pond to control sediment and stormwater on the mining area. In addition to a surface coal mining permit the construction of the ponds will require a separate small pond approval from the Bureau of Mines. A copy of this application, which includes the pond plans for the small pond approval, is available for public review at the Maryland Bureau of Mines, Frostburg, Maryland during normal office hours.
