NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND LETTING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of Centerville, Iowa, will meet in the Council Chambers in the City Hall in Centerville, Iowa, on February 16, 2015 at 5:30 o'clock P.M., at which time and place the said City Council will consider the adoption of Plans for the construction of the North 10th Street and East State Street Improvements project. At the same meeting the City Council will consider any objections to said Plans and to the making of said improvements. Sealed proposals will be received by the City Administrator of the City of Centerville, Iowa, 312 E. Maple, until 1:00 o'clock P.M. on February 9, 2015, for the construction of said improvements. Proposals will be publicly opened at the Centerville City Hall at 1:00 o’clock P.M. on February 9, 2015 and considered by the City Council of said City at a meeting to be held at the City Hall in Centerville, Iowa at 5:30 o’clock P.M. on February 16, 2015 and immediately following said public hearing. The extent of the work in said improvements are in general as follows: Removal and replacement of roadway pavement, private driveways, and sidewalks along North 10th Street from West Maple Street to Washington Street and along East State Street from Haynes Avenue to 18th Street and from 18th Street to the Memorial Arch entrance to Oakland Cemetery. Work also includes storm sewer installation and associated work and installation of new traffic control signals at the intersection of North 10th Street and West Maple Street. All material, work, and equipment is to be in conformance with the Iowa DOT Standard Specifications, latest edition, and Plans which have been prepared by the Hall Engineering Company, Consulting Engineers, Centerville, Iowa. Plans and Bidding and Contract Documents may be examined at the office of the City Administrator of said City and at the office of Hall Engineering Company, PO Box 825, 100 E. Sheridan, Suite 101, Centerville, Iowa (641) 437-4477, or may be obtained for personal use from the Engineer upon deposit of $100.00 with the Engineer. Said deposit will be refunded provided said documents are returned to the Engineer in reusable condition within fourteen (14) days after the date of letting. Plans are also available electronically at no cost by contacting the Engineer and executing a Transfer Agreement for Electronic Drawing Files. The construction work on East State Street shall commence no later than April 1, 2015. Construction work on North 10th Street shall commence no sooner than July 1, 2015. Construction work on East State Street and North 10th Street shall be substantially completed by October 1, 2015. Construction shall be completed and ready for final payment on or before November 1, 2015. The City of Centerville, Iowa, hereby reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to enter into said contract or contracts as it may deem to be in the best interests of the City of Centerville, Iowa and to waive informalities and technicalities.
