(Published In THE TIMES, Mayes County, Oklahoma January 8, 2017) TOWN OF SPAVINAW COUNTY OF MAYES STATE OF OKLAHOMA NOTICE BY RESOLUTION OF GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION RESOLUTION NO. 2016-3 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF SPAVINAW CALLING FOR A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION. Whereas, the Town Board of Trustees of the Town of Spavinaw are required, pursuant to Oklahoma Statutes Title 11 Section 16-101 (2005), to give notice of a general municipal election by resolution. Whereas, the Town Board of Trustees of the Town of Spavinaw are required, to provide in said resolution the facts described in Oklahoma Statutes Title 26 Section 13-102 (2016). Whereas, the Town is required, pursuant to Oklahoma Statutes Title 11 Section 16-101 (2005), to publish such resolution in a newspaper of general circulation in the municipality at least ten days before the beginning of the filing period. Whereas, the Town Board of Trustees of the Town of Spavinaw are required, pursuant to Oklahoma Statutes Title 26 Section 13-102 (2016), to provide a copy of this resolution to the secretary of the county election board, not fewer than fifteen (15) days before the filing period. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF SPAVINAW; 1. That notice of a general municipal election is hereby given. 2. That the date of the general municipal election shall be Tuesday, April 4, 2017. 3. That the offices to be filled at the general municipal election are as follows: 3.01. Three Town Trustee Positions to be elected to four-year terms each: 3.01.01. A four-year expired Town Trustee Position to expire 2021. 3.01.02. A four-year expired Town Trustee Position to expire 2021. 3.01.03. A four-year expired Town Trustee Position to expire 2021. 4. That the qualifications for each of the above listed offices are that each candidate must be a registered voter at an address within the municipality for at least six (6) months prior to filing a declaration of candidacy. Oklahoma Statutes Title 11 Section 16-101 (2005). 5. That to become a candidate, a declaration of candidacy must be filed with the Mayes County Election Board within the filing period. Oklahoma Statutes Title 11 Section 16-101 (2005). 6. That each office shall be filled by voting at large. 7. That the general municipal election will be nonpartisan. 8. That the filing period begins at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017, and ends at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. 9. That contests of candidacy may be filed until 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017. 10. That the Town Clerk shall cause this resolution to be published on or before Thursday, January 26, 2017, as required by Oklahoma Statutes Title 11 Section 16-101 (2005). 11. That the Town Clerk shall cause this resolution to be received by the Secretary of the Mayes County Election Board on or before Friday, January 20, 2017, as required by Oklahoma Statutes Title 26 Section 13-102 (2016).
